Many new discoveries in Sri Lanka to surface via this “new” experimental medium of, uh, publishing pictures on a blog first.
As my first day focus was finding a replacement for my broken phone, I don’t have much to show except a blurry rail track-based egret, some fields and a cool cockroach. I’ll spare ya those.
More interesting but uncaptured in Negombo was an unexpected all-of-the-lights outdoor mega-church I stumbled across as night fell, doing a reasonably good worshipper trade and blasting substantial speakers.
From day 2 on I’ll mostly let my (rather inconsistent quality) snaps do the talking.
Habarana and nearby
Included Sigiriya Lion Rock and Dambulla Cave Temple, although mostly not getting good photos of them. Lots else to see though.

Kandy

Ella, Ambewela
Also got a few auditory snapshots of my Ella base, which I might add here later.
One motivation for this stop was the part of the train route that’s been reinstated following last year’s land slips. Beautiful as that is, I didn’t get good pictures. So in lieu of that: more monkeys and an Ambewela farm visit.

Tangalle, Hiriketiya, Matara
Just a few highlights from these towns, as great as they are. Surfing, snorkelling and napping all incompatible with my camera.

Wilpattu
From the national park and area I stayed nearby.
